A vineyard in the heart of Pic Saint Loup
At an altitude of 658 meters and 30 kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, in the foothills of the Cévennes and Massif Central, Pic Saint Loup abounds in the pure essences of the Languedoc's most northerly appellations: holm oaks, garrigues, pines, thyme, laurel, rosemary... Fruit is born in the heart of varied soils, clay-limestone on marly subsoils, and forges its character through contrasting seasons. In winter, the soil gathers enough water to balance out moderately dry summers and sharp temperature swings between day and night. The demanding, contrasting soils of the Pic Saint Loup region, and the typical characteristics of its soils and climate, are all features of the personality of our wines.
The Bergerie du Capucin estate extends over more than 15 hectares in the Pic Saint Loup region, in the communes of Lauret and Valflaunès. Only a few kilometers from the winery and cellar, the Bergerie du Capucin still exists: every day, it reminds us of Jeanne, my son's grandmother, whom I wish to honor. Wine is also a family affair, whose beauty and bouquet of aromas are values handed down from generation to generation. To embody my first cuvée, Jeanne, a shepherdess on the high plateaus of the Bergerie du Capucin, an elegant, beautiful and lively woman, came to mind, reminiscent of the delicate, round notes of my wines and the dirt roads she walked every day.
